London Santa Dash

Sorry people, we know the summer has just finished. Give it three weeks and the supermarkets will already be stocking Christmas stuff – seriously, we’ve already seen a few things hit the shelves. Yep, upsetting stuff.

But what that does mean, aside from the impending cold, is that the winter races start. Our favourite time of year for running in fact, and that’s not only because we have a tendency to overheat disgustingly in the sun.

Winter running and Christmas amounts to just one thing (well, two if you’re counting the pub afterwards) – Santa Runs. That’s right. Dress up in a red costume, grab your festive friends and bang out a 5k for charity. What could be more in with the spirit of the season?

Our choice for Central London Santa runs takes place on Wednesday December 5th starting from Old Spitalfields Market. The whole thing kicks of at 5.30pm – which means pub for 6, if you’re sprightly.

It’s the 8th year the event has taken place, with the route taking runners past some rather nice locations, including St Paul’s Cathedral, the Gherkin, the Shard and the Royal Exchange. You also get a drink at the end, apparently.

Tickets are £25 per person and include a Santa suit, free bag drop, bottle of water, medal and your well-earned drink.

All money raised will go towards supporting Brainwave to help more children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve their full potential.
